Harry Ransom Center
Identity for the Harry Ransom Center Library and Museum at the University of Texas at Austin.
Brand Identity, Print Design
→ The BriefThe Harry Ransom Center, was founded in 1957 and still had an identity from the years of it’s founding. Without a true brand, the institution had been relying on a hodgepodge set of assets and materials.
→ The Approach
Throughout the process, we worked closely with the Harry Ransom Center team, engaging leadership, curators, archivists, and staff across the institution to shape a shared vision for the brand. The project unfolded through an ongoing dialogue – workshops, presentations, and iterative reviews that invited feedback at key stages and ensured alignment across the organization.
After rounds of exploring numerous design directions, the fondness and connection that the staff, students, and the public had for the existing identity lead to it’s evolution. The unique sense of place influenced the design system, creating something uniquely them.
