→ The Brief
Lorne Michaels was donating his entire collection of artifacts from his extensive career. The museum had then agreed to create an exhibition of larger scale than it had ever done previously. It needed a name, an identity, and an experience.
→ The Approach
Working with museum curators, we helped develop the user journey through the space – creating, adapting, and testing the experience through models, digital mockups, and site visits.
For visuals, we began researching through the archive, looking at any and all material that could lend itself to a visual system or solution.
The Harry Ransom Center acquired the Lorne Michaels’s Collection of the SNL creator’s most influential artifacts
An illustrative faux neon letterhead in the collection served as the primary inspiration for the identity
The team developed a custom display typeface to use throughout the exhibit
